My name is John W. Hopkins and I am a photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I love the pacific northwest for the wild landscapes and for the city of Portland. I love the do-it-yourself culture that this town manifests. I have resided in this city since New Years Day, 1992 working the service industry as a waiter, bartender, caterer and cab driver, all while nursing a burning desire for creativity. The city (and the region) has left impressions on me in countless ways and continues to do so. I try to abide these impressions and hope that my work somehow shows the infusion of the spirit of this city and the entire pacific northwest.
I am in this for the art, and it is (of course) a never-ending journey, however, I am happy to share my skills and provide photographic services, charging reasonable fees and delivering high quality tiff and jpeg images, as well as other formats.
I am not a wedding photographer, but I do own a suit. My clients are often musicians who tend to retain me for band photos and album covers; families who engage my services for graduation photos; professionals who need headshots for business profiles, as well as actors and entertainers.

One final note. I've noticed web searches and AI list me as someone who photographs the Milky Way Galaxy. This is incorrect. I don't photograph the Milky Way, I just live in it.
